UEFA has extended Inter Milan midfielder Thiago Motta's ban to two matches after he was sent off in the Champions League semifinals.

Motta was already suspended from the May 22 final against Bayern Munich for receiving a red card in the second leg against Barcelona last month.

UEFA's disciplinary panel said Friday that the 27-year-old Brazilian should be forced to miss a second European club match.

Motta must sit out the first UEFA competition match for which he is eligible next season. He can challenge the ruling with UEFA's appeals panel.

After Motta's dismissal, Inter lost in Barcelona but still eliminated the defending champions 3-2 on aggregate.
