Monaco signs striker Moussa Maazou in loan deal
Nigerian striker Moussa Maazou has joined Monaco on loan from CSKA
Moscow.
Monaco said Wednesday that the 21-year-old Maazou joined on a
six-month contract with an option for a permanent move when his
loan spell ends in June.
Maazou scored three league goals in 15 games for CSKA, and
got 15 goals in 31 games with Belgian club Lokeren.
"It was a good opportunity, both for the club and for the
player," Monaco sporting director Marc Keller said. "He is a young
player who has a significant margin for improvement. Moussa has six
months ahead of him to work hard and earn his place."
Maazou's arrival could precipitate the departure of Iceland
striker Eidur Gudjohnsen, who has failed to score since joining
Monaco from Barcelona.
Despite a bright start to the season, Monaco is now in 11th
place in the French league.
