Massimiliano Allegri heaped praise on AC Milan after they ended Inter Milan's dominance in Serie A by winning their first Scudetto since 2004.
The Rossoneri were held to a goalless draw by Roma at the Stadio Olimpico but the result was enough to seal the 18th league crown in club history with two rounds remaining.
Inter had won the previous five league titles.
Allegri, after winning his first league championship as a coach, said: "I have to thank everyone - the players, the president - that has given me a great squad with a winning mentality.
"It's a beautiful moment and I'm very fortunate.
"To win the Scudetto in the first year is a great satisfaction.
"This success is deserved and is down to all the group. We all work together.
"I am saddened that we are not in Milan tonight but we will celebrate next Saturday.
"I think the key games were the win in the derby and the victory in Florence."
The Rossoneri beat Inter 3-0 back in April before edging Fiorentina 2-1 in Tuscany.
Milan have 78 points with two rounds of games remaining and are nine points clear of second-place Inter, who host Fiorentina on Sunday.
"It's the first time I have won the Scudetto and this is a great day," said Alexandre Pato, who is Milan's joint-leading scorer alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic with 14 goals.
Milan veteran midfielder Gennaro Gattuso hailed Allegri, who joined the Rossoneri last summer following the departure of former boss Leonardo.
"I give a 10 out of 10 to Allegri," said Gattuso. "This is a fantastic feeling."
Defender Alessandro Nesta, meanwhile, believes that the Rossoneri's consistency was the key to clinching the title.
"We have been on top throughout the year," said Nesta. "It's normal that we would finish first."
Milan are still alive in the Coppa Italia and will look to seal safe passage to the final when they visit Palermo in the return leg this week.
The Rossoneri were held to a 2-2 draw in the opening leg at the San Siro.
"This is a beautiful moment," said Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf. "We will now try to bring home the Coppa Italia to complete a perfect year."
Roma coach Vincenzo Montella congratulated Milan on their achievement, saying: "Milan deserve the Scudetto.
"I was convinced of that by their performance tonight.
"But they did not secure the league title on tonight's result but throughout the campaign.
"They dominated this year and they deserved it.
"They are superior to the other teams and you only need to see their bench players to realise that."
Montella praised the work done by the Milan coach, saying: "My compliments go to Allegri. Milan have found continuity this campaign, they have strong players, who follow their coach."
Roma went into the encounter looking to leapfrog Lazio into the fourth and final Champions League qualifying spot.
As it is, the Giallorossi have climbed to fifth, level on 60 points with fourth-place Lazio.
Udinese, who are sixth, host Lazio on Sunday.
"Had we won today we would have had more chances to qualify for the Champions League," Montella said.
"But we will give our all until the end.
"We are still in the race to finish fourth.
"I hope my players show the same determination that they did tonight in our final two games."
Roma visit Catania next weekend before hosting Sampdoria on May 22.
