Angel Reyna scored a first-half hat-trick and Vicente Sanchez added a double as Club America beat Puebla 5-4 in a thrilling match.

Club America swept into a 4-0 lead in 33 minutes, with Reyna lethal in front of goal.

He opened the scoring with a sweet 13th-minute chip before doubling the advantage six minutes later with a low finish past Alexandro Alvarez.

Sanchez tapped in the third goal after 22 minutes, and when Reyna completed his treble from close range the match already looked won.

Puebla forced their way back to 4-3 though, with Felix Borja scoring from a tight angle two minutes before half-time and Roberto Juarez volleying in its second goal after 57 minutes.

Alejandro Acosta's header piled pressure on Club America, but a solo effort from Sanchez, carefully side-stepping a couple of challenges before unleashing his shot, made it 5-3, and although Gabriel Pereyra netted a fourth goal for Puebla, a fifth was beyond them.

Pachuca caused a surprise by winning 3-1 at Monarcas Morelia, with Edgar Benitez putting it ahead after nine minutes and goals at the end of each half from Franco Arizala and Braulio Luna sealing the victory.

Monarcas had briefly got back into the game when Adrian Aldrete reduced its deficit to 2-1 in the 83rd minute.

Toluca and Monterrey drew 1-1, with Aldo De Nigris putting Monterrey ahead after four minutes and Jaime Ayovi levelling in the 73rd minute.
