Juventus continued their perfect start to the season with a 1-0 victory at Siena taking them into a share of the Serie A lead.

Alessandro Matri scored the only goal of the game in the 54th minute, although Antonio Conte's side were comfortable winners and missed chances to demonstrate that in the scoreline.

Juve have now won their first two games of the season and will be confident of making it three out of three when they host Bologna on Wednesday night.

Siena, meanwhile, will travel to face Roma on Thursday still searching for their first win back in the top flight.

Andrea Pirlo took the plaudits for his performance in Juve's 4-1 win over Parma last weekend and he was in good form again for the Bianconeri, who were dressed in their dazzling pink away shirts.

In the 19th minute, he managed to leave no fewer than three Siena defenders standing with an excellent control and dash into the penalty area, but he shot wide as one of the defenders recovered.

Juve took the lead in the 54th minute through Matri.

Emanuele Giaccherini chased down a long ball out wide to the right and he pulled it inside to Mirko Vucinic, who beat one defender and then pulled the ball back to Matri, who placed it past two Siena defenders on the goal line.

The closest Siena came to levelling was in the 69th minute when Emanuele Calaio headed against the bar, but he was adjudged to be in an offside position anyway and the goal would not have counted.

Juve could have won by a more comfortable margin, but Arturo Vidal wasted a glorious chance to score his second goal in as many games when he lifted his shot over the crossbar from eight yards out after being put through by Alessandro Del Piero.
