Manchester United will be without Chris Smalling for about a month after the defender fractured his foot.

Smalling played in last weekend's 6-1 defeat to Manchester City but sat out the midweek League Cup win over Aldershot and Saturday's 1-0 Premier League win over Everton.

Manager Alex Ferguson says ''I think he'll be out for a month and it's unfortunate that one.''

Winger Ashley Young will be on the sidelines for two weeks because of a toe injury, but midfielder Tom Cleverley should be fit next week after he was forced from the field against Everton with an ankle problem.
