Italy's financial police have discovered a fraud ring centered around selling fake travel packages to the Champions League final.
Police said Thursday a 35-year-old man has been arrested after opening a fake company in the southern Italian city of Salerno, selling a two-day package of travel, ticket and accommodation to the final on Saturday in Madrid for €1,500 ($1,850).
Police say the man, who was not identified, has swindled up to €100,000 ($123,000) out of travel companies that had signed up for the packages.
The final between Inter Milan and Bayern Munich has led to a scramble for tickets from Inter supporters, desperate to see their team in its first European Cup final since 1972.
