Lyon hopes to have striker Lisandro Lopez back before the end of the season after tests revealed his hamstring injury is not as bad as first feared.
Lopez scored his 16th league goal of the season last Sunday when third-place Lyon beat defending champion Marseille 3-2 to secure a valuable win in its bid for a place in next season's Champions League.
Lopez limped off late in the second half against Marseille.
Lyon said Tuesday on its website that tests revealed only a minor tear to Lopez's right hamstring and there is ''the possibility of a return.''
The 28-year-old Lopez has scored 31 league goals in 58 games since he joined Lyon from FC Porto two seasons ago.
