Lymberopoulos gets Greece call up

Striker Nikos Lymberopoulos ended his international retirement Friday and was named in the Greece squad for upcoming European Championship qualifiers against Latvia and Israel.
New coach Fernando Santos recalled the 35-year-old striker, who has been in form since returning to Greece this season with AEK Athens after two seasons at Eintracht Frankfurt.
Lymberopoulos had called an end to his international career a year ago, but was tempted back by Santos after a string of recent retirements, including forward Fanis Gekas and attacking midfielder Ioannis Amanatidis. Both players cited problems with team morale.
Greece has two points from as many games in Group F. Croatia and Israel lead with four points, followed by Latvia with three.
Greece hosts Latvia at Oct. 8 and Israel Oct. 12.
