Coach Joachim Loew called up midfielder Kevin Grosskreutz of in-form Borussia Dortmund on Friday for Germany's upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers against Turkey and Kazakhstan.

The German football federation also said that Manchester City defender Jerome Boateng will be back in the squad after returning from injury.

Boateng will take injured Bayer Leverkusen forward Stefan Kiessling's place in Loew's 22-man squad.

Germany, which has two wins from two games in Group A, plays Turkey in Berlin on Oct. 8 and faces Kazakhstan in Astana on Oct. 12.

"In our current situation, it isn't necessary to make big changes," Loew said.

"We are trusting particularly in the proven players who were at the World Cup and fulfilled expectations in the victories in European Championship qualifying in September."

Loew's squad contains 17 players who were in the Germany squad that finished third at the World Cup in South Africa, plus three players who missed out on the tournament due to injury - Leverkusen goalkeeper Rene Adler, Hamburg defender Heiko Westermann and Stuttgart midfielder Christian Traesch.

Still missing is Leverkusen midfielder Michael Ballack, the longtime national team captain who is now recovering from a leg injury after missing the World Cup with an ankle injury.

Ballack officially remains Germany captain but Loew says he must regain his pre-injury form to earn his place back. Bayern Munich defender Philipp Lahm has taken on the role in Ballack's absence.

Grosskreutz has made one appearance for Germany, coming on as a substitute in a 3-0 friendly win over Malta before the World Cup.

Loew said that several young players "have come into focus" thanks to strong showings in the Bundesliga, but most of them will play in the under-21s.

However, Grosskreutz no longer qualifies for the junior team.

"He is getting the chance to be among us for several days on the basis of his good performances in the past months," Loew said.

The coach said Germany views Guus Hiddink's Turkey side as its strongest opponent in the group.

Loew said he is looking forward to the atmosphere next Friday at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. The city has a large Turkish community, and Turkey can expect vocal support.

"Our team is prepared for that and will be able to deal with the situation," Loew said.
