Lille signs Mauro Cetto on loan from Palermo

Lille has signed central defender Mauro Cetto on loan from Italian team Palermo until the end of the season.

Lille announced the deal on its website Thursday, adding that it has an option to sign the 29-year-old Argentine on a permanent basis when his loan spell ends.

Lille has been looking to shore up its defense since Marko Basa injured his shoulder two weeks ago. Basa will be out for up to three months.

Cetto knows the French league well, having previously played for Nantes and Toulouse, where he was captain. He played only seven league games for Palermo this season.
