Two goals from David Villa were enough for Valencia to beat Getafe
2-1 in the Spanish league on Monday night.
Chori Dominguez burst past Getafe defender Cata Diaz to find
Villa in the 39th minute for the opener at the Mestalla Stadium.
The hosts made it 2-0 shortly after the break after David
Silva stole the ball to set up his Spain teammate, who lobbed
goalkeeper Jordi Codina for his league-leading 17th goal of the
season.
Valencia was reduced to 10 men in the 61st after Alexis
picked up a second yellow card for fouling Pedro Leon. Getafe
striker Manuel Del Moral took advantage of a defensive lapse in the
75th to cut the deficit.
Barcelona leads with 58 points, Real Madrid has 56, Valencia
46 and Sevilla 42.
Getafe is eighth with 32 points.
Barcelona beat Racing Santander 4-0 on Saturday while Madrid
thrashed Villarreal 6-2 on Sunday.
