Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos has confirmed that he is in advanced discussions regarding a contract extension at Allianz Arena.

The 21-year-old Germany international's current deal is not due to expire until June 2012, however, he looks set to agree a reported three-year extension.

Talks are ongoing, but Kroos, who has recently been sidelined through injury having spent the previous season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, is pleased with progress.

He told Kicker: "I am in talks with the club over a new contract. As far as I see it, these negotiations are not completed yet.

"But thus far they have been in a very good atmosphere. To remain at Bayern Munich for longer is a likely option for my future."

In contrast, Turkey international Hamit Altintop looks set to leave Bayern at the end of this season when his contract expires.

Club director Christian Nerlinger has confirmed that Kaiserslautern forward Ivo Ilicevic could be a possible replacement due to the fact that Bayern are not planning any star transfers in the summer.

Nerlinger said: "It's a fact that we have been looking at Ivo Ilicevic."

He added: "We are not going to make any move for a big name this summer. We are going to have certain new players.

"These signatures will be selective as we have great players at our club. How would we be able to excel signatures like Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery?"
