Juventus have been told that Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain is not available until a coach has been appointed.

Higuain has been the focus of intense speculation over his future with the Argentina international widely expected to be leaving the Bernabeu this summer and Juventus are among his suitors.

But with Real yet to replace Jose Mourinho, president Florentino Perez has told Juve sporting director Giuseppe Marotta that the striker is not on the market - yet.

Marotta told Sky Sport Italia: "Higuain is a great player but Real Madrid are looking to appoint their new coach and therefore they have not yet defined their market strategies.

"Consequently, Higuain is not on the market for the moment but when a new coach is appointed we will talk again with Real Madrid.

Bianconeri stars Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal have been linked with a move in the opposite direction with Juve's presence in Madrid for a friendly match fuelling the speculation.

But while Marotta admits that certain names did come up in conversation with Perez but he insists none of the stars will be leaving Turin.

He added: "They have let us know they admire some of our players but we will not be selling our best assets."
