Visitors Dynamo Kiev dominated the first period at The Brit on Thursday night and deservedly took the lead in the 28th minute when Oleksandr Aliyev's shot was turned into their own net by Matthew Upson and Asmir Begovic. But Stoke rallied after the break and finally found the equaliser nine minutes from time when Jones powerfully headed home Jermaine Pennant's cross. "We know it was important for us to get something to make it into the next round so I'm happy we pulled it off in the end," Jones told ITV4. "Kiev are a very good team and they've been playing in Europe for years and years but we were at home. We went 1-0 down but have a never-say-die attitude and we came out in the second half and got the goal." Jones believes the Potters can be proud of their performance in continental competition this season. "It's our first time in Europe and we've done well," he said. "No one expected us to do this well and we've turned a few heads and top the group."
