Johnson returns to left back for US at Guatemala

Left back Fabian Johnson returned to the U.S. lineup Tuesday night for the Americans' World Cup qualifier at Guatemala, nine days after straining a calf muscle during warmups before an exhibition at Canada.
The rest of the U.S. lineup in Guatemala City was unchanged from Friday's opening 3-1 win over Antigua and Barbuda at Tampa, Fla., with Tim Howard in goal; Steve Cherundolo at right back; Clarence Goodson and Carlos Bocanegra in central defense; Maurice Edu, Michael Bradley and Jermaine Jones in midfield; and Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey and Herculez Gomez at forward.
On the bench for the U.S. were goalkeeper Brad Guzan; defenders Oguchi Onyewu, Michael Parkhurst and Geoff Cameron; midfielders Jose Torres, Kyle Beckerman and Joe Corona; and forwards Jozy Altidore and Chris Wondolowski.
Not dressing were goalkeeper Nick Rimando, defender Edgar Castillo and forward Terrence Boyd.
Guatemala made three changes from the lineup that started Friday's 2-1 loss at Guatemala. inserting midfielders Jose Contreras and Carlos Figueroa and forward Mario Rodriguez in place of midfielders Alejandro Gallindo and Marco Pappa and forward Jairo Arreola - all substituted at the start of the second half Friday.
Ricardo Jerez Jr. was in goal, with Elias Vasquez, Erwin Morales, Carlos Gallardo and Luis Rodriguez on defense, Wilfred Velasquez in midfield, and Marvin Avila and Carlos Ruiz at forward.
The referee was Joel Aguilar of El Salvador, who was selected for the 2010 World Cup but didn't officiate a game in South Africa. He was the referee for last year's CONCACAF Gold Cup final between the U.S. and Mexico.
