FIFA says Hyundai-Kia has extended its deal as a top-tier sponsor of football's governing body through the World Cups of 2018 and 2022.

The Korean carmaker clinched the partnership eight days before FIFA chooses hosts for the two tournaments. South Korea is one of five bidders for 2022 hosting rights.

The value of the deal was not disclosed.

Chung Mong-Koo, chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, says the company believes ''football can act as the driving force to make a better world.''

Chung's brother, Chung Mong-Joon, is one of 22 FIFA executive committee members who will choose the 2018-2022 hosts in a secret ballot in Zurich.

Two FIFA voters were suspended last week after an investigation into alleged bribe-taking and vote-rigging.
