Stoke defender Robert Huth had admitted a charge of violent conduct for striking West Ham's Matthew Upson and is expected to receive a three-game suspension.
The German center back swung out with his right arm and appeared to catch Upson on the side of the head during Stoke's 2-1 victory on Saturday.
He escaped a red card because the referee did not see the incident, which happened as the players were waiting for a free kick.
Stoke issued a statement on Tuesday saying Huth apologized for the incident.
