Hodgson heaps praise on Dawson
The 21-year-old's display in defence was a highlight in what otherwise was a bad day at the office for Hodgson's side. Dawson came into the side for the suspended Gabriel Tamas and Hodgson felt the defender - who initially joined the Baggies in 2010 from Rochdale and spent last season back on loan at his former club - coped well with the challenges of the top flight. Hodgson told the Birmingham Mail: "He was quite good. "The ball was in front of him quite a lot of the time. "There wasn't a lot of crosses coming in or situations where there were heading duels. "The play was in front of him and in midfield and I thought his positional play was good. "He worked very hard. Once or twice he produced some good defensive moments. "So, I would say he will be quite happy with his individual debut but won't be happy that he's on a losing side." Hodgson was also not happy with his team's overall display. "I have no complaints about the defeat," he added. "It was undoubtedly our worst performance of the season. We lost to the better team."
