Albion and Premier League rivals Blackburn Rovers have shown an interest in the Northern Ireland international, who has struggled to establish himself as a regular in Fulham's starting line-up this season.
Hodgson worked with the 29-year-old during his time at Craven Cottage and had considered a January reunion with the former Southampton youngster.
However, Hodgson admits he will not be signing Baird before the close of the transfer window after learning Fulham do not want to sell.
"His name has been mentioned and I said if he was going to be released we would be interested," said Hodgson.

"Then I've been informed Fulham are not releasing him, so he's not available."
