Napoli playmaker Marek Hamsik has not given up hope that his side can qualify for next season's Champions League ahead of tomorrow's game against Siena.
The Naples outfit trail third-place Udinese by three points going into the final game of the campaign.
Udinese have the upper hand to join Juventus and AC Milan in Europe's elite club competition next term.
Napoli need to beat Siena and hope not only that Udinese lose at Catania but that fourth-place Lazio also fail to win against Inter Milan in Rome.
"It would be fantastic to qualify for the Champions League for a second consecutive campaign,'' Hamsik said. "We want to win against Siena and then we will just have to wait to see what happens in the other games.
"It no longer depends on us but we certainly expect to take three points on Sunday.
"I'm sure Catania will play a great game against Udinese, just as I know the game between Lazio and Inter will be a battle.''
Napoli go into the encounter at the San Paolo stadium looking to make amends for Sunday's surprising 2-0 defeat at Bologna that dropped them to fifth place.
A win on Sunday would also be a big boost in confidence for Napoli in view of next weekend's Coppa Italia final against Juventus in Rome.
Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri will be without the team's top scorer Edinson Cavani, as well as defender Salvatore Aronica and midfielder Blerim Dzemaili, all suspended.
Rivals Siena travel south eager to make club history on Sunday.
The Bianconeri have taken 44 points in 37 games to equal the club record Serie A points total set in the 2007-08 campaign.
"My players are really motivated to end the campaign on a high note,'' Siena coach Giuseppe Sannino said. "We want to write our name in the history books and we still have a chance to do that this weekend.''
The Tuscan outfit have won just three times on the road this season and lie 14th in the standings.
