American forward Joe Gyau has signed a three-year professional contract with Hoffenheim in Germany's Bundesliga.
The 19-year-old from Silver Spring, Md., has been with the club in its youth program and made his debut for the first team on Feb. 8 in the German Cup quarterfinal loss to Greuther Fuerth. He played for the U.S. under-23 team that was eliminated last month in Olympic qualifying.
Gyau's father, Philip, made six appearances for the U.S. national team and his grandfather, Joseph, played for Ghana.
Hoffenheim announced the signing on its website Friday.
