Former England international goalkeeper David James is set to join Icelandic club IBV.
The 42-year-old, who won the last of his 53 England caps in 2010, is set to take up a player-coach role alongside his former Portsmouth team-mate and IBV boss Hermann Hreidarsson.
James left League One side Bournemouth by mutual consent last month.
One of James' first matches for IBV will be against Portsmouth in a charity match to help raise funds for the cash-strapped club at Fratton Park on 16 April.
Writing on Twitter, James said: "I am going to sign for #ibv in Iceland today. My role is as player/coach, alongside Herman. We are both very excited about the journey ahead."
"I am also looking forward to playing for #ibv in the match at Fratton Park,
16th April. Lets hope the club is sorted, sharpish! #pup."
IBV, who are based in the Vestmannaeyjar islands, which have a population of just over 4,000, finished third in the Iceland domestic league last season.
SFA compliance officer Vincent Lunny has given the Portuguese the option of a two-game ban rather than take the matter to a tribunal.
The governing body took the action after invoking Rule 202 which states 'No player shall cause a match official to make an incorrect decision and/or support an error of judgement on the part of a match official by an act of simulation'.
Goncalves infuriated Celtic defender Emilio Izaguire, who was adjudged to have brought him down in the penalty area midway through the second-half of the match in Paisley.
Referee Bobby Madden, who was heavily criticised by Hoops boss Neil Lennon after the game, immediately pointed to the spot but replays showed there was no contact, and that the incident was clearly outside the box.
In a statement, the SFA said: "Due to the Bank Holiday Monday, the third working day for the response is now Thursday, 4 April.
"Accordingly, if the offer of the fixed penalty is refused the hearing will take place on Thursday, 11 February."
