World Cup goalkeeper Dida has reached a deal to play for Brazilian first-division club Portuguesa.

The team announced on Thursday that the 38-year-old Dida will sign a contract until the end of the year. He hadn't been playing since leaving AC Milan in 2010 after the end of his contract.

Dida played for Brazil in three World Cups. He was the third goalkeeper in 1998, a reserve when the national team won the title in 2002 and the starter when it was eliminated by France in the quarterfinals in 2006.

Portuguesa, runner-up in the Brazilian league in 1996, played in the second division last year but was promoted back to the competition's topflight in 2012.

It debuted in this year's tournament with a 1-1 away draw with Palmeiras.
