Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino will miss up to six weeks after his left knee buckled during a collision with Udinese goalkeeper Samir Handanovic during a 2-0 loss Sunday.
Fiorentina says medical tests revealed ligament damage and that the Italy forward will be out for five to six weeks.
Gilardino scored in Fiorentina's 2-0 win over Bologna in the Tuscan club's Serie A opener. He has mostly been relegated to a bench role with Italy's national team lately.
