MADRID (AP) Spanish club Getafe has presented Quique Sanchez Flores as its new coach.
Sanchez Flores began his coaching career at Getafe in 2004 before moving on to Valencia, Benfica and Atletico Madrid, among other clubs.
He will replace Cosmin Contra who signed with Chinese club Guangzhou R&F last month. The Romanian manager has continued with Getafe and was on the sideline for its 2-1 loss against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.
A seven-game winless streak has left Getafe in 14th place in the league, four points above the relegation zone.
''It's a risk, but I don't see it as a risk, I see it as a source of joy to be back at the club where I began,'' Sanchez Flores says.
