Germany ready for Kazakhstan after Turkey win
Germany is brimming with confidence after its 3-0 win over Turkey, and coach Joachim Loew hopes he can again call on the team that saw off Guus Hiddink's side for Tuesday's visit to Kazakhstan.
But Loew warns against underestimating the German-coached team his side will meet on its brief trip four time zones to the east.
Bernd Storck's Kazakhstan may have no points after three matches - most recently losing 2-0 at home to Belgium on Friday - but Loew says the side is significantly better than Azerbaijan, which Germany thrashed 6-1 last month.
"They created a great deal of good chances, not only against Turkey but also against Belgium," Loew said. "We must be wary - we have a hard bit of work coming our way."
On Friday, Germany disposed of Turkey, which it considers its toughest opponent in European Championship qualifying Group A, despite an atmosphere at Berlin's Olympic Stadium that Loew said made it "almost an away game."
Berlin has a large Turkish community, and the crowd constantly whistled Germany midfielder Mesut Oezil, who is of Turkish heritage. Oezil shrugged off the reception to score Germany's second goal.
Miroslav Klose provided the other two, taking his goal tally for Germany to 57 in 104 games.
Oezil sustained a bruised ankle in Friday's match, but will make the trip to the Kazakhstan capital Astana. However, Manchester City defender Jerome Boateng, who was a mainstay of Loew's World Cup side but didn't play Friday, will be staying home with a stomach bug.
Loew said he doesn't plan a "major reorganization" against Kazakhstan, but Germany has "enough class" to replace Oezil if necessary. Toni Kroos smoothly replaced injured midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger on Friday.
Germany delayed its departure for Kazakhstan until Monday in order to avoid jet lag on the long trip.
"We're staying on German time ... everything will be oriented to German time," team doctor Tim Meyer said. "We want to stay in our rhythm."
Germany goes into Tuesday's game with three wins from three matches and a three-point lead over Austria and Turkey. Kazakhstan is just ahead of bottom team Azerbaijan on goal difference.
