French Ligue One Rundup, Mar. 19
Moussa Sow got his 19th league goal of the season and strike partner Gervinho got the other as French league leader Lille rallied to win 2-1 away at Brest and move five points clear at the top on Saturday.
The win put coach Rudi Garcia's side in a commanding position after second-place Rennes drew 1-1 at home with third-place Lyon, which was six points back in third spot.
"We're thinking about the title. It's in our minds a little bit," Senegal forward Sow said. "That's normal. We're in a good position now."
Midfielder Benoit Lesoimier gave Brest the lead in the 18th minute when he collected Jonathan Ayite's backheel and shot past goalkeeper Mickael Landreau.
Gervinho equalized in the 39th when he played a one-two with Belgium midfielder Eden Hazard, beat two defenders for pace and coolly stroked the ball past goalkeeper Steeve Elana.
Gervinho turned provider when he won the ball on the edge of the penalty area and set up Sow in the 53rd. Sow and Gervinho have scored 31 of Lille's 49 league goals this season, with 12 for the Ivory Coast international.
Later on, Lyon looked on course for a crucial win after Bafetimbi Gomis turned in Lisandro Lopez's shot in the 36th for his 10th league goal of the season, equaling his tally from last season.
Things looked even more comfortable for the former seven-time champion when Rennes had striker Victor Hugo Montano sent off in the 64th.
But defender Kevin Theophile-Catherine equalized for Rennes in the 87th when he headed in at the back post.
Elsewhere, Poland striker Irineusz Jelen got both goals to give struggling Auxerre a much-needed 2-0 home win over Sochaux and lift it out of the relegation zone.
Lens stayed in the relegation zone in 19th place despite a resounding 4-1 away win at Montpellier.
Kanga Akale, Adil Hermach, Sebastien Roudet and Issam Jemaa scored for Lens, while Garry Bocaly got a consolation goal for the home side.
Danijel Ljuboja got an injury-time equalizer for Nice in a 1-1 draw at Toulouse, which opened the scoring through Federico Santander.
Bordeaux was heading for another defeat after midfielder Gael Danic put Valenciennes 2-0 up at home, but Brazilian midfielder Jussie and center half Michael Ciani scored in the last 10 minutes to earn a 2-2 draw for Jean Tigana's side.
Lorient striker Kevin Gameiro was kept quiet and remained on 16 league goals in a 0-0 home draw against Saint-Etienne.
In Sunday's games, it is: Caen vs. Arles-Avignon; Monaco vs. Nancy, and Marseille vs. Paris Saint-Germain at Stade Velodrome.
