Former Spain coach Luis Aragones, the founder of the country's ''tiki-taka'' style of football, says he is retiring.
The 75-year-old Aragones, who last coached in 2009 at Turkish club Fenerbahce, tells Spanish online magazine Voxpopuli that ''age has retired me. When I left Turkey I knew it would be difficult to continue and today it is definitive.''
After coaching various Spanish clubs, Aragones took over Spain's national team in 2004 and transformed it from a perennial underachiever into the 2008 European champion.
Vicente del Bosque replaced him but maintained the ball possession and passing attack Aragones had implemented. Spain went on to win the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship.
Aragones coached Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Sevilla, as well as other Spanish teams.
