Defending Copa Libertadores champion Internacional says it has hired former Brazil player and coach Paulo Roberto Falcao.

Internacional made the announcement on Sunday, saying the former AS Roma star will be officially introduced on Monday. He had been working as a commentator for Brazil's leading television channel.

The 57-year-old Falcao helped Internacional win three Brazilian league titles as a player, in 1975-76 and '79.

He coached Brazil at the 1991 Copa America, and also briefly commanded Japan's national and Mexico's America. He coached Internacional in 1993, but only 14 matches.
