Former Austria captain Ivanschitz joins Seattle Sounders

VIENNA (AP) Former Austria captain Andreas Ivanschitz is joining Seattle Sounders FC in the MLS after Spanish club Levante terminated its contract with the attacking midfielder.
The 31-year-old Ivanschitz says on Facebook ''the Major League Soccer has improved from year to year, and the fact that many international stars are playing there has strengthened my positive opinion.''
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Sounders have added him to the roster, pending the paperwork.
Ivanschitz, who played for Rapid Vienna, Salzburg, Panathinaikos and Mainz before joining Levante two years ago, was 19 when he became the youngest ever captain of Austria's national team in 2003.
Ivanschitz scored 12 goals in 69 games but hasn't been selected by coach Marcel Koller since qualifying for the 2016 European Championship started a year ago.
