Fiorentina take legal advice over snub by Chelsea winger Salah

Fiorentina have confirmed they are taking legal advice after Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah reneged on an agreement to stay at the club.

Salah spent the second half of last season on loan at Fiorentina, whose president Andrea Della Valle said on Wednesday he was "optimistic" of agreeing a deal to keep him at the club for another year.

Salah's solicitor Ramy Abbas, however, says the Egypt international has rejected the chance to stay in Florence.

"We have decided, he's not staying at Fiorentina," Abbas told La Gazzetta dello Sport on Friday. "Salah is going to move to another Italian club."

Inter Milan and Roma are said to be keen on Salah, who scored six goals in 16 Serie A appearances last season, but Fiorentina are reported to believe the 23-year-old is legally obliged to stay with them for 2015-16 as part of the agreement he signed upon joining.

"Following recent developments concerning Mohamed Salah, ACF Fiorentina would like to clarify the following points out of respect for Viola fans," a club statement read.

"Through his representative, the player has rejected our improved contract offer and expressed his desire to join another club. He has also informed us that he does not intend to respond to our request for him to report back for pre-season training.

"As a result of the above, we have placed the matter in the hands of our lawyers so that they may assess all possible courses of action in order to protect the club's rights."
