FC Twente says that veteran Dutch coach Co Adriaanse has agreed to take over next season from Michel Preud'homme, who resigned last week to join Saudi Arabia's Al-Shabab.
Chairman Joop Munsterman said Monday that Adriaanse would be the ''logical successor'' to Preud'homme, and praised his talent in developing younger players.
Adriaanse is due to sign a one-year contract shortly.
The 63-year-old Dutchman has been coaching since 1984. Past teams include Ajax, AZ Alkmaar, Red Bull Salzburg and FC Porto, among others. He won both the league and cup titles with Porto in 2006, and Austria's league title with Salzburg in 2009. He is currently coaching Qatar's Olympic team.
