Duo keen on Ridgewell move
The versatile defender is under contract until 2013 but Birmingham would be willing to let him leave at the right price to ease their financial problems following their relegation to the Championship. Ridgewell, who joined Birmingham from Aston Villa in 2007, has established himself as a key player at St Andrew's and helped them win the Carling Cup last season. The 27-year-old's versatility in that he can play in central defence as well as left-back makes him an attractive proposition for a number of clubs with West Brom holding a long-term interest in the player. However, Celtic and Everton are now thought to be keeping tabs on Ridgewell's situation as they look to bolster their squads. Celtic are desperate to bring in a left-back after losing Emilio Izaguirre to a long-term injury, while Everton could be in the market for defensive reinforcements should they be forced to sell either Phil Jagielka or Leighton Baines before the close of the transfer window.
