Duff tips Hodgson for England job
The Cottagers boss has been linked with the Three Lions post when Fabio Capello eventually leaves the role, and Duff thinks the experienced tactician is well worthy of the big job. Hodgson has guided Fulham to the Europa League semi-finals this season and the Londoners are in an excellent position to secure a place in the final. Duff worked under the 62-year-old at Blackburn as a teenager, and is adamant he can cut it at the very top. "My first full season at Blackburn was under Roy," he said in The People. "That was a while ago now, but even more than 10 years ago I fancied him to be England manager one day. "Whether he has ever got close, I don't know, but he is a top manager and coach and I think all the lads here would back me up on that. "You can see that the work he does is paying off on the pitch. It's definitely not too late even now for him to manage England. "I love working with him and I'm not alone in thinking that. He is well respected by everyone in the game, so why not? "For now, though, we would like him to stay at Fulham." Duff moved to Fulham last year from Newcastle and says his time at Craven Cottage has been a lot more enjoyable than his experiences in recent seasons. "What I am experiencing now is a world apart from the grind of a relegation battle and I've been in sides that have gone down twice," he added. "This year has been like a dream come true after the disappointing time I had at Newcastle. I always loved the game but I suppose when you're not happy you carry that out on the pitch. "Those times are now long gone and fair play to Newcastle, they're back up in the Premier League. "From a personal point of view, I wanted to get my career back on track and start playing the football I know I can produce. "We have done well in Europe and we've also done well in the league considering the amount of games we've played."
