Did Chelsea star Diego Costa bite Gareth Barry?

Diego Costa's history is filled with kicks, shoves, headbutts and even an accusation of racial abuse. To say he's not the most savory of characters would be kind.

On Saturday, he may have added another chapter to his very big book of indescretions: biting an opposing player.

Costa got into it with Gareth Barry and hit the Everton player with a few small head butts. Those were enough to put him in the crosshairs of the referee, who had already shown Costa a yellow card earlier in the match, and earned him a second yellow card and sending off. But was that all there was?

After the nods off the head, Costa's face ends up on Barry's neck and it appears as if he bites the Everton player. It's not entirely clear, but you can bet the FA will review the situation. If Costa is not biting Barry, then what is he doing? The only alternative might be licking him, or giving him a hickey.

Costa has earned multiple suspensions for violent conduct in his career, including a three-match ban earlier this season. But this could be a whole other step and see him put on the sidelines for a very long time.

Luis Suarez was handed a four-month ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini at the 2014 World Cup, but that was his third ban for biting during a match. His first biting incident, back in 2010 while playing for Ajax, saw him suspended for seven matches by the KNVB.
