Dann and Yakubu secure Blackburn moves

Blackburn has signed Birmingham centre-back Scott Dann and Everton striker Ayegbeni Yakubu.

Dann, 24, had been linked with a number of clubs this summer following Blues' relegation from the Premier League but Rovers were the ones who made a late move and it paid off.

Liverpool-born Dann had a medical in Lancashire on deadline day, with the finalities of his contract confirmed less than 30 minutes before the close of the transfer window.

Dann signed a four-year deal at Rovers after pleading with Birmingham chief Peter Pannu to allow him to leave to pursue his Barclays Premier League ambitions.

He joined Birmingham in June 2009 from Coventry but was hampered by a hamstring injury last season, and has not been in Chris Hughton's first team this term.

Yakubu, 28, has signed a three-year contract with Rovers, who are also awaiting confirmation that the paperwork on a deal for Sheffield United's Jordan Slew.
