Corinthians moved to the top of the Brazilian Campeonato standings after a 1-0 win at Bahia.

Anderson Chicao scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot on 13 minutes as Corinthians moved to the summit at the expense of Sao Paulo, who went down to a 2-0 reverse at home to Botafogo.

Elkeson's 35th-minute strike and a German Herrera penalty after 51 minutes secured the spoils for Botafogo, who sit third in the league on 14 points, one behind Sao Paulo and two shy of the leaders.

Figueirense are fourth after they rallied for a 2-1 win at home to Santos.

The hosts took the lead through Aloisio on four minutes and although Rychely levelled for Santos just two minutes later, Aloisio's second 31 minutes sealed the points for Figueirense.

Flamengo are fifth, level on 13 points with Figueirense, after former Barcelona star Ronaldinho hit a brace in a battling 3-2 win at 10-man America MG.

Ronaldinho bagged the winner for the visitors six minutes from time after his first-half opener had been cancelled out by Nascimento Alessandro (37) and Anderson (45). Deivid equalised for Flamengo on 55 minutes.

Leandro Ferreira saw red for the hosts on 72 minutes.

Cruzeiro were 3-0 winners over Vasco da Gama thanks to goals by Leandro Guerreiro (53), Walter Montillo (88) and Roger (90), while Gremio and Avai played out a 2-2 draw in a game that saw both sides finish with 10 men.

Avai took the lead through Gustavo Bastos on four minutes and added their second through Robinho on 51 minutes - just moments after losing Jose Batista to a red card.

Douglas led the Gremio fightback with a goal on 73 minutes only to be dismissed two minutes later, but the hosts still had the momentum and eventually found an equaliser through Rafael Marques in stoppage time.
