Papiss Demba Cisse recorded his third straight two-goal game, leading Newcastle over Swansea 2-0 on Friday in the Premier League as the Magpies' continued their surprise charge for a Champions League place.

Cisso scored in the fifth and 69th minutes to lift Newcastle (16-8-8) above Chelsea (15-8-8) into fifth place, just two points behind Arsenal (18-9-4) and Tottenham (17-7-7) in the race for third. Newcastle stretched its winning streak to four.

Cisse, who joined Newcastle in January from German team Freiburg, has scored nine goals in his first eight games for the club.

In the second-tier League Championship, American midfielder Robbie Rogers entered in the 85th minute of Leeds' 2-0 loss at Reading, his first appearance since sustaining a concussion in his debut for the club on Feb. 18.
