Germany's most prominent fan, Chancellor Angela Merkel, will visit the team Wednesday at its hotel outside Gdansk.
Team officials say Merkel will have dinner with the team and is expected to make a brief speech.
Germany defender Per Mertesacker says it Merkel's visit was a ''great honor'' and perhaps a ''good omen.''
Merkel often attends Germany matches at home and abroad and has been photographed with players in the team's dressing room. Merkel will not stay overnight at the hotel.
