Cattermole vows to remain honest
The Black Cats midfielder feels too many players in the modern game take a tumble far too easily, with many of the culprits having arrived in England from abroad. The England Under-21 international believes English players are more likely to stand their ground when on the receiving end of rough treatment, prepared to accept that football is a physical sport. Cattermole feels it is this kind of honesty which saved Stoke's Dean Whitehead from seeing red during Sunderland's 0-0 draw with the Potters on Monday. The Stoke man kicked out at the Black Cats ace following a typically crunching tackle from the former Middlesbrough man. Cattermole could have made the most of the incident, forcing the referee's hand, but insists that would have gone against his principles. "Basically because I'm English and I'm honest, he hasn't been sent off,'' he said. "Sometimes you wonder if you should do what some of the foreign lads do and make the most of it, but I won't change. I didn't go rolling around, making the most of it."
