Cameroon, New Zealand draw 1-1

Cameroon and New Zealand played a 1-1 draw Saturday in the opening game in Group B of the Under-20 World Cup.

Christ Mbondi gave the Africans the lead in the 34th minute, but New Zealand pulled even in the 40th through an own-goal by Serge Tchaha.

Cameroon dominated the contest with 7 shots on target to only 1 for New Zealand and also had 61 percent of the possession.

Cameroon, runners-up in the African Youth Championship to Nigeria, plays Portugal on Tuesday in Cali. New Zealand faces Uruguay in Cali the same day.
