The home of Argentina and Barcelona forward Lionel Messi's brother has been hit by at least six bullets fired from a small caliber weapon, police said Monday. There were no injuries reported.

Police in the city of Rosario, 300 kilometers (200 miles) northwest of Buenos Aires, said the incident took place Saturday at the home of Matias Messi. It was unclear if Messi's mother Celia was in the house at the time.

Officials did not immediately release more details.

The newspaper La Capital de Rosario reported on Monday that both Matias Messi and Celia Messi were in the house at the time of the attack. Other reports said the gunshots were fired from a passing motorcycle.

Ricardo Giusepponi, a lawyer for the Messi family, said he had not been able to contact Matias Messi.

''I left a voice message with him and he has not responded,'' Giusepponi told the Argentine television channel C5N.
