Werder Bremen says defender Sebastian Proedl has been discharged from the hospital after breaking his nose, fracturing his jaw and suffering concussion in a Bundesliga match.

Bremen says in a statement on Sunday that the Austrian is now at home but will undergo further tests on Monday.

Proedl was hurt when he was kicked in the face by Kaiserslautern striker Dorge Rostand Kouemaha's overhead clearance in their sides' 0-0 draw on Saturday.

Proedl says on his website that he is feeling ''lousy'' and knows ''the way back will not be easy.''

Schalke captain Benedikt Hoewedes also suffered a facial fracture Saturday after breaking his cheekbone in a collision with teammate Marco Hoeger.
