Brazil edges Colombia 3-1; Paraguay wins
Second-half goals from Casemiro, Willian and Neymar lifted Brazil to a 3-1 victory over Colombia on Thursday, leaving Brazil unbeaten from two Group B matches in South American Under-20 World Cup qualifying.
In Thursday's other Group B match, Ivan Torres' 23rd-minute goal gave Paraguay a 1-0 victory over Bolivia.
Brazil's perfect start matches Argentina's two victories in Group A, making them the early favorites. The top four teams advance to the Under-20 World Cup later this year in Colombia. The top two also get berths in the 2012 London Olympics.
Casemiro scored in the 55th, heading in after a cross from Mauricio. Willian scored eight minutes later, chipping in from close range. Edwin Cardona scored from a penalty for Colombia in the 66th.
Santos star Neymar scored his fifth goal of the tournament with a sharp-angled shot in the 87th. Scoring from what seemed an impossible angle showed why he is seen as the top talent in the tournament.
Colombia has only one point from its first two matches, but had it chances early when Cardona hit the crossbar in the 24th from a free kick.
For Paraguay, Torres' winning goal came in the 23rd minute from a spectacular, rising shot from 25 meters (yards). The victory was a welcome rebound for Paraguay, which was badly beaten 4-2 by Brazil - all four goals by Neymar - in its opening match Monday.
Bolivia was playing its first game of the 10-team tournament.
Friday is a day off with play resuming Saturday in Group A when Argentina plays Venezuela and Chile faces Uruguay.
