Bordeaux beats FC Porto 2-1 in Paris Tournament
Defender Michael Ciani headed a late goal to give Bordeaux a 2-1 win over FC Porto in the preseason Paris Tournament.
Ciani scored off a free kick in the 83rd minute on Sunday as the French side came from behind to take the tournament lead with four points.
Porto went ahead in the 30th when Brazilian striker Walter beat goalkeeper Kevin Olimpa with a shot inside the near post.
Bordeaux equalized in the 58th when Floyd Ayite headed home after Porto failed to properly clear a free kick.
It was an encouraging result for new Bordeaux coach Jean Tigana, the former France midfielder who replaced Laurent Blanc after he took over from Raymond Domenech as the national team coach.
Bordeaux has not lost any of its preseason friendlies and starts its league campaign away to Montpellier on Sunday.
"Little by little, we're getting there. It's a good result for us," Bordeaux striker Fernando Cavenaghi said.
Tigana's team looks to have more of a physical edge than it had under Blanc, with several strong challenges from defender Mathieu Chalme in a combative and sometimes scrappy match against the Portuguese side.
Host Paris Saint-Germain plays AS Roma later Sunday at Parc des Princes.
PSG beat Porto 1-0 and Bordeaux drew 1-1 with Roma on Saturday.
