Boca Juniors expecting return of Juventus' Carlos Tevez next year
Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici says the Argentine giants are expecting Carlos Tevez to return to the club next year.
The Juventus striker began his senior career with the Buenos Aires giants, becoming a club idol as he helped them to Copa Libertadores and world titles before a big money switch to Corinthians in Brazil.
The 30-year-old's current deal with Juve expires in 2016 and, having revealed he has no plans to extend his stay in Turin, a long-awaited homecoming appears to be on the cards.
"Over a year and half, things can change. But right now his idea is [Tevez will return next year]," Angelici toldLa Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I was amazed when he said that right now he does not think he will renew his contract with Juventus.
"There is a sense that perhaps right now, at 30, Carlos is at its best and Boca still want a little of him near his best, not at 36 or 37 years, when you can't give as much as you can at 32.
"But it's not about age as much as the love of the shirt. Look at [Diego] Milito [at Racing], [Juan] Veron [at Estudiantes], Maxi Rodriguez [at Newell's], who were all older wanted to return to where they started."
Tevez fired Juve to the Serie A title last season, hitting 19 league goals in his debut season for the Old Lady and earning a recall to the Argentina side after a four-year absence from the international setup.
He has hit another nine goals in Serie A in 2014-15.
