Bayern Munich to sign Leipzig midfielder Kimmich on five-year deal

Defensive midfielder Joshua Kimmich, a member of Germany's European Under-19 Championship-winning squad last summer, is set to join Bayern Munich next season.

The Bundesliga champion said on Friday that 19-year-old Kimmich, a player wanted by coach Pep Guardiola and director of sport Matthias Sammer, will be given a five-year contract.

Kimmich plays for German second-division team RB Leipzig, but was due to return to former club Stuttgart at the end of the season.

Bayern said it agreed with Stuttgart not to disclose the transfer fee.
