Bayern Munich striker Claudio Pizarro ruled out with thigh injury

Bayern Munich says striker Claudio Pizarro has torn muscles in his right thigh and will be sidelined for weeks.

The 36-year-old forward was injured in practice this week, and the injury was confirmed on Wednesday. Pizarro could miss the rest of the year.

The veteran Peru forward is a backup in Bayern and is often used by coach Pep Guardiola off the bench.

Pizarro joins Bastian Schweinsteiger, Holger Badstuber, Javi Martinez and Thiago Alcantara on the injured list.
