Barcelona's Adriano out for 3 weeks with injury
Barcelona defender Adriano will be sidelined for three weeks with a leg injury, dealing another blow to its already thin back line.
Adriano hurt a muscle in this right leg after scoring the opening goal in Barcelona's 3-1 win over Celta Vigo on Saturday. He joins Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique and Eric Abidal on the club's list of injured defenders.
Coach Tito Vilanova said Pique could return in time for Wednesday's Champions League game at Celtic. If not, he will have to again shuffle his squad to fill its back line against the Scottish champions with holding midfielder Sergio Busquets also suspended.
''The injuries are the sad part of this start to the season, but we hope that they all get well soon,'' said Busquets. ''We want to seal our classification for the knockout round and we will try to do so against Celtic.''
Javier Mascherano, Alex Song and 21-year-old Marc Bartra could all get picked for the match in Glasgow.
Barcelona leads the Spanish league after a club-record start of nine wins and a draw in the first 10 rounds.
